At Triangle Eye Institute, we specialize in caring for your eyes. We diagonise and treat a large range of issues, from glaucoma to cataracts. Below is some of the issues we care for:
Glaucoma
Glaucoma is one of the most common courses of permanent loss of vision and even blindness.  The risk of glaucoma increases dramatically with age and it currently affects approximately 2.5 million Americans. Most individuals with glaucoma feel fine and may even have 20/20 vision, but usually experience no pain, blurred vision, redness, tearing or early warning signs.
Risks Factors of Glaucoma:
  • Over 40 years of age
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • African- American
  • Family history of glaucoma
  • Steroid treatment
  • Severe near-sightedness
  • Eye injury or surgery
Adults 40 years of age and above should have regular comprehensive eye examinations every one to two years to detect it early. Detecting it early can prevent one of the leading causes of blindness.
Diabetes
If you have diabetes, you are more likely to develop diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cataracts or other eye and vision problems. Diabetic retinopathy may lead to vision loss. In most cases, laser treatment is available to control retinopathy.
Cataracts
A cataract occurs when the normally clear lens of the eye becomes cloudy like a frosted window. The major symptoms of a cataract are blurring, glare, or dimming of vision. Cataracts usually develop gradually over a number of years due to aging.
When a cataract causes enough loss of vision to interfere with work, hobbies or lifestyle, it is probably time to consider having the cataract removed. Surgical intervention is the only effective way to cure cataracts and restore vision.
Modern cataract microsurgery and implantation of an artificial lens is highly successful. Using the most advanced microsurgical techniques, cataracts can be removed and vision restored in approximately 15 minutes and the patient can return home about one hour later without hospitalization!
Pterygium
Pterygium is a growth of scar tissue mixed with blood vessels that grow on the inner and outer surface of the eye. They are more common in people with dry eyes or exposed to sunlight and dust. They are very common in the valley.
